President of Teachers’ Trade Union of Serbia Valentina Ilić asked the Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and Ministers of Education and Finance, Branko Ružić and Siniša Mali for an urgent meeting related to the improvement of economic status of employees in education.
Otherwise, trade union would take all measures of trade union struggle, including strike.
v Ilić pointed to the fact that due to the pay system in the public sector being unorganized, untransparent and unjust and a delay in the implementation of salary bands, state hasn’t expressed good will to take a realistic look at the problem of employees in education, who were brought to the brink of their existence.
“Adopting the Law on Budget in 2022 and planned increase of 7% for the employees in education left educators without a real pay increase and when inflation and 20% price increase of basic supplies and energy substances are added to this, it is clear that salaries are actually lower ”, says Ilić.
Trade union asks the Government to increase labour cost for all employees in the education system by additional 15% till the end of 2022 and pay out New Year awards till March.
Trade union demands equality of labour cost for employees in high education and the one in pre-school, elementary and secondary school education; payment of the hot meal bonus and vacation bonus for all employees, as well as better conditions for the purchase of apartments (the same model as for the army, police and young married couples).
