Meeting with ILO Delegation

Must Read

Delegation of the International Labour Organization (ILO), led by the Director Claire Harasty, had a meeting with the leadership of the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia (CATUS) regarding the project ‘Strengthening Social Dialogue in the Republic of Serbia’ and ‘Promotion of Occupational Safety and Health and Labour Inspection.’
CATUS Council Secretary, Slađan Bobić pointed out the importance of strengthening tripartite cooperation through the project on social dialogue. He also presented CATUS priorities that include: improving communication, building the capacities of new members within CATUS bodies and approaching trade union members directly.
Concerning the amendments to the labour legislation, CATUS will advocate for the change of the term ‘employee’ in the Labour Law so that more workers could be covered by the employment rights protection and trade union protection. Attention was drawn to the lack of social dialogue in the energy transition process and industry decarbonization which will undoubtedly affect workers, jobs, climate goals and local communities.
Director Harasty reiterated ILO’s strong support for the social partners’ demands to lead effective social dialogue, full implementation of the ILO Convention 144 on tripartite consultations, as well as existing national regulations.
New ILO Decent Work Country Program for Serbia is to be made through the tripartite process so that the ILO support for the Republic of Serbia could be consolidated.
