European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) called upon women to get unionised so that they would jointly fight for more rights and better position of women in the society.
On the occasion of March 8 – International Women’s Day, ETUC stresses that it will continue exerting huge pressure for the respect of women’s rights in the whole of Europe, but it also calls upon women to get unionised in order to get a better starting position.
‘We call all working women to act – unite for the sake of a better deal; obtain more equality in the world of work; eliminate gender pay gap; secure protection from harassment at work place; introduce OHS measures adjusted to job specificity, more just chances for promotion or more balance between life and work for both men and women’.
ETUC also referred to war on the territory of Ukraine, which cannot leave anybody indifferent.
‘These days our thoughts are with workers whose lives are being destroyed and I am sure that I can speak on everybody’s behalf when I say that on the International Women’s Day we ask for peace, justice and democracy’, stated Esther Lynch, ETUC Deputy General Secretary.
Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia and Women’s Section join the ETUC demand to respect peace, justice and democracy in all countries.
