Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia publishes ‘Consumer Basket,’ which, based on its contents, structure, and quantity, reflects true and realistic citizens’ needs and represents a genuine parameter for determining the minimum labour cost.
According to the CATUS analysis, the value of consumer basket measured in the last quarter of 2025 was 36 euros higher than in the preceding quarter.
The Differences between trade union consumer basket and the official one defined by the state are considerable, not only in the contents but in the amount of money that a three-member family needs to spend monthly. The Ministry of Internal and Foreign Trade of Serbia calculated that in the last quarter of 2025 it was necessary to set aside 936 euros for the consumer basket, while our calculation amounted to 1,476 euros. The difference between trade union consumer basket and the official one amounts to 538 euros, which is equal to the minimum wage.
