At the regular session of the CATUS Council held on October 17, it was unanimously decided that it is necessary to hold this public meeting in order to draw the attention of the authorities and the public to the low wages that do not enable a decent life for workers, to the absence of collective agreements and increasingly restrictive laws that diminish the rights of working people. This action is part of the ETUC European wide mobilisation “On the Road for a Fair Deal for Workers”.
From the public session, it will be requested to urgently start a social dialogue, to include the trade union in the law-making process at all stages, starting with the formulation of the draft, to sign branch collective agreements, and to urgently raise all wages, in agreement with the unions, as well as the minimum wage up to a level that would enable decent life for workers and their families.
The session will be held in an expanded composition, in which, in addition to members of the CATUS Council, members of the National Trade Union Committees of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia and members of the Council of the Autonomous TUs on local levels will also attend.
The gathering is at Nikola Pašić Square from 11 am.
